Terms of Service

Last updated October 30, 2026. This is a draft that will be reviewed by our attorney before launch.

These terms are an agreement between you and [Company name] (operating as Clearbuilt) ("we," "us") about your use of Clearbuilt (the "service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What the service is

Clearbuilt gives homeowners general information, checklists and tools for home improvement projects: checking a contractor's public license record, reviewing the terms of a contract you enter or upload, tracking payments, lien releases, notices and change orders, and preparing messages and forms for you to use.

What the service is not

Information we read for you

Some features use automated tools, including artificial intelligence, to read documents and photos you upload (for example a contract or a Preliminary Notice) and fill in details for you. These readings can be wrong or incomplete. You are responsible for checking every value against your own documents before relying on it, and the service asks you to confirm them. Public license and permit information comes from third parties and may be out of date; confirm it with the Contractors State License Board.

Your account and your content

Contractors, suppliers and subcontractors

If you open a link from a homeowner to sign a release or respond to a change order, you confirm you're authorized to act for the business named, and the information you enter is accurate. Forms marked "draft" or "test" have no legal effect.

Fees

Some features are paid. Prices are shown before you pay. Payment terms, including any credit of a contract review fee toward a plan, are described at checkout. Payment features may not be available yet.

Disclaimers and limits on our liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the project the claim relates to in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending your use

You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend accounts that misuse it. Some records may be kept as described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes

We may update these terms. If we make important changes we'll tell you, and the date above will change.
