Check a contractor

Free. Takes about two minutes.

Step 1: look them up on the state's license search

This opens Tennessee's official license search in a new tab. Search by business name or license number, then open their license.

Step 2: tell us what it shows

About how big is your job?

What does the license status say?

Does the name match the name on your bid or contract?

What kind of license is it?

Are any disciplinary actions listed?

General information based on what you tell us, not legal advice. The state's license record is the official source.
